The musical is a brand new show, which draws its story from three different people, of different ages and from different cultures, who gave their lives because of their faith in Jesus Christ. The question raised, through music, drama, images, and effects, is how the martyrs’ devotion, their outlook on life and death, and their relationship with the Lord can inspire and challenge us to be true followers of Jesus Christ today.

- Throughout church history, people have been inspired and challenged by the martyrs’ fate, and in an age where we increasingly become more self-centered, it is important that the driving force of the martyrs also become ours, says Joakim Lundqvist, screen- and copywriter and pastor at Word of Life in Uppsala.

The musical is performed by the Word of Life’s own youth group and the powerful music is composed by Jonathan Järpehag. The musikal is directed by Janya Cambronero. The suits used in the show is hired from the Swedish Film Institute.

Martyrion is a production that goes right into the heart and at the premiere at Word of Life, New Year 2009/10, the response from all age groups was a tremendous.
